S. O. Young (1848-1926) except for a twenty year stay in Galveston, was a life-long resident of Houston, Texas. During the Civil War, Dr. Young served with Hood's Texas Brigade. After the was he graduated from Washington and Lee and later received his medical degree from New Orleans Medical college. He practiced medicine in Houston until the death of his mother in 1882.
